1- Moisturize Your Hands
It is important to keep the skin on your hands soft. Dry skin can more readily develop calluses. Therefore, it is a great idea to keep a hand moisturizer in hand reach as much as possible.
Also, avoid using harsh hand soaps or sanitizers too often. These dry out the skin.

2- Wear Gloves
Yes. Gloves will help to prevent calluses.
Your hands can get sore if you’re lifting, pushing, pulling, digging, or doing anything else that involves a lot of grip power and friction.
The skin becomes more resilient with time, and calluses may form. That is typical. However, gloves may reduce friction, protect your hands, and stop calluses from forming.
Depending on what you are doing, there are different kinds of gloves that you can use to protect your hands from friction and even to help ease the pressure.
For example, if you weightlift or go to the gym a lot, you can wear a pair of weightlifting or gym gloves. Carpenters and masons use special gloves to protect their hands while they work.
Sports players like baseballers, cricketers or lacrosse players use special sports gloves to protect their hands during their practice sessions and games.

3- Adjust Your Grip
If you are not used to using your hands to do various kinds of work like raking, sweeping, pushing and pulling equipment, gardening, etc. you could be holding the equipment wrong.
Constantly adjust your grip to prevent the skin from pinching and folding between your fingers and palm. This will cause pain and eventually, you will develop calluses.

If you are wearing rings or other hand jewelry, remove them before working with your hands.
These can worsen friction and pinching if they get caught in a bad position between your skin and the equipment you are handling.

Even if your callus is now beginning to form, or it is barely thickened, soak them, file them down, and keep the skin moisturized and protected.
This will prevent them from getting worse and prevent others from forming.

If you find that gloves are uncomfortable for you, or you cannot find one that fits well enough, here are a few things that you can still do to help prevent calluses:
1- Use finger guards for finger calluses.
These will just fit over the affected finger and not your entire hand. These can be especially helpful for writers and artists that do not need their precision hampered by bulky gloves.
2- Use Callus Pads or Cushions
There are various kinds of padding that can be used over the callus area. You can use lamb’s wool held in place by a piece of plaster or tape.
Or, you can purchase callus pads and cut them to the correct size for your callus.

3- Use Hand Chalk
When you use your hands to lift, push, pull or handle heavy equipment a lot, you will more than likely sweat. The sweat increases friction and makes it harder for you to keep a firm grip on the equipment.
Many people, especially at least and weight lifters, use a thin coating of chalk or magnesium carbonate to keep their hands dry and keep a firm grip. However, be sure to wash it off and moisturize your hands well afterward.
