How to Use Turmeric to Lighten Dark Inner Thighs

Many people use turmeric for dark inner thighs and other darkened areas of the body, especially the face!

Turmeric is one of those herbs that have been used in traditional (Indian and Ayurvedic) medicine for centuries. It is consumed in foods and beverages and is also used as a face mask, bath ingredient, body mask, etc.

According to the millions of people who use it, turmeric is known to give you glowing skin!

Why Turmeric For Dark Inner Thighs Works

The active ingredient in turmeric is Curcumin, which directly inhibits the production of melanin in the skin by affecting the way that tyrosinase works in the production cycle.

Tyrosinase is the main enzyme involved in the production of melanin in the skin. So, less tyrosinase means less melanin. Less melanin production means that the skin will become lighter and lighter over time as new, less pigmented cells are regenerated.

The easiest ways to use turmeric for dark inner thighs is as a paste, or in a soap.

Both of these options are easy to wash off the skin. Leaving turmeric on the skin for too long can stain since it is very pigmented. You only need to leave it on long enough for it to absorb into the skin a bit.

Best DIY Recipes With Turmeric For Dark Inner Thighs

Your inner thighs are sensitive so you do not want to use recipes that are too harsh for your skin.

If you have severe hyperpigmentation, you can also add ingredients like lemon and baking soda to enhance the lightening effects of the turmeric in your recipes.

Here are a few great recipes I discovered (they can also be used on your face and underarms!):

1-Turmeric & Honey Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp unpasteurized honey

Directions:

  1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl
  2. Apply to the skin; wait 10–20 minutes
  3. Rinse off with warm water

2-Turmeric & Lemon Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • Juice of one-half lemon
  • 1 tbsp aloe vera gel

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients; adjust the ratios as necessary
  2. Apply to the skin; wait 10–20 minutes
  3. Rinse off with warm water

Do not leave lemon juice on your skin for longer than one-half hour as it is acidic and can disrupt your skin’s natural pH levels.

3-Turmeric & Baking Soda Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon gram flour
  • ½ tablespoon turmeric
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients with enough water to make a paste
  2. Apply the paste to the underarms and let it sit for 20 minutes
  3. Wash it off with lukewarm water and pad dry with a clean towel.

Best Turmeric Soaps For Dark Inner Thighs

Soaps are also a great way to deliver turmeric to your skin while cleansing at the same time. The only downside is that they may take longer to be effective as the turmeric content will vary.

However, here are a few great soaps that I liked when I tried them:

1-Aspen Kay Naturals Turmeric Soap

Aspen soap is made with concentrated turmeric. It should work for all skin types but it is gentle enough for sensitive skin. This soap can be used for adults, teens, and babies, and you can use it on both your face and body.

I saw that some people also use it as a shaving soap since it helps to heal injured skin and might even help prevent hyperpigmentation caused by shaving.

2- Santoor Sandal & Turmeric Soap

This soap contains sandalwood along with turmeric. The combination leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. It also works quite well.

I saw results in just 1 week of use. It is great for sensitive skin and it smells amazing. You will need to moisturize (as you should, anyway) after using this as it might strip your skin just a little.

Side Effects Of Using Turmeric For Dark Inner Thighs

Turmeric is generally well tolerated but there is always a risk of irritation and allergic reactions (as with any skincare ingredient).

If you are known to be allergic to turmeric, then please do not use any of these recipes or products on your skin.

Also always do patch tests on your skin before applying any treatment all over. Especially on sensitive areas like your inner thighs.

If turmeric or any of the recipes or products used seem to irritate your skin (make it itchy, swollen, red, or cause breakouts) then wash the treatment off. Let your skin rest for a few days and then use small patch tests to figure out what is causing the irritation.

If the cause of the irritation is turmeric, you may need to either use less, leave it on your skin for a shorter time, or use it less frequently. If none of that helps, you may need to consider alternatives.
