5 Best Deodorants to Lighten Dark Underarms- Prevent & Treat
If, you’re like me and so many others who struggle with dark underarms, I got you! I have been on the lookout for routines and products that will tackle our armpit problems (sweat, odor, and darkness!).
And one of the products that I have been actively using is special deodorants that work to lighten dark armpits. And I can report that they actually work amazingly well over time to reduce discoloration.
My recommended Deodorants to Lighten & Prevent Dark Armpits are:
- Nivea Extra White Serum Deodorant – Very affordable and you see results quickly.
- Dove Even Tone Antiperspirant Deodorant – Lighten dark armpits whilst also keeping them moisturized & healthy
- Kosas Lightening Deodorant – Uses exfoliating agents to lighten dark underarms.
- Belo Advanced Lightening Deodorant – Uses Kojic acid and Bee Venom.
- Forgotten Skincare Brightening Deodorant – A premium deodorant that used Vitamin C, E, and other ingredients.
It’s important to remember that underarm darkness can be caused by underlying medical conditions, using unsuitable products, shaving/waxing, and a host of other things. These factors would need to be dealt with before your underarms can truly be lightened.
1- NIVEA Extra White Serum Roll-On Lightening Deodorant
The NIVEA Extra White Serum Roll-On Deodorant is said to contain 10x more than average to effectively lighten and brighten your underarm skin.
It is also alcohol-free, free of artificial colors, and preservative-free. Additionally, the deodorant and antiperspirant effects will last more than 24 hours (I just couldn’t go much longer without a shower) and are supposed to last up to 48 hours.
Nivea comes with an easy-to-use roll-on applicator that is one of the signatures of traditional deodorants. And, it is affordable at around $12-13 per bottle.
So, does The NIVEA Extra White Serum Roll-On Deodorant work?
Yes! It will not work after just one application, but after a week f using Nivea, I definitely saw some changes in the texture and tone of my skin. Other people and reviews indicate that many have had the same experience, all depending on how consistent they were and the condition of their skin.

2- Dove Even Tone Stick Lightening Deodorant
The Dove Even Tone Antiperspirant Deodorant contains Niacinamide and other moisturizing factors that smooth the skin and even out the skin tone over time.
Its antiperspirant properties are expected to last 48 hours and I have read thousands of great reviews about how effective it is.

3- Kosas Chemistry Lightening Deodorant
This deodorant is great for killing the bacteria that produce body odor, significantly lightening underarm hyperpigmentation, and nourishing and soothing irritated skin.
Shikimic acid, mandelic acid, and lactic acid make up the combination of AHAs in this formula that counteracts odor and helps to lighten discoloration.
When applied, the additional aloe vera and hyaluronic acid in this deodorant produce a cooling feeling for skin that is also clean and fresh. It has a serum-like consistency and is packaged in a special rollerball bottle for simple administration.
However, keep in mind that this is a deodorant and not an antiperspirant, so it will not prevent you from sweating. However, after as little as one week of consistent use, you will see a difference in the tone and texture of your skin, as well as in your odor!
It’s also a bit more pricey too you can click here to see the current price for the Kosas Chemistry Deodorant on Amazon.

4- Belo Intense White Advanced Lightening Deodorant
Everywhere we have looked, Belo is described as “Clinically formulated with the decisive dual whitening action of ActiWhite and Beetox that reduces underarm pigmentation without irritation”.
When we investigate the ingredients list, apart from all the regulars, we notice that this deodorant contains Kojic Acid and Bee Venom.
- Kojic acid inhibits melanin production in the skin
- While Bee venom promotes blood circulation, aids in the breakdown of aging cells and molecules, and aids in the production of collagen.
This combined action gives the skin a more toned, vibrant, smooth, and healthy appearance. Its antiperspirant and deodorant properties are expected to last up to 48 hours.

While I haven’t tried this one myself, the majority of the reviews we have scoured indicate that with consistent use, this does make a difference in their skin.
However, kojic acid and bee venom can cause adverse reactions, especially if you have a known bee allergy. So I advise that you patch test your skin first.

5- Forgotten Skincare Underarm Brightening Deodorant
This brightening and lightening deodorant is not an antiperspirant, so it will not prevent you from sweating. However, it does provide a solution for hyperpigmentation, razor burn, ingrown hairs, and body odor.
It is also free of hydroquinone, Dermatologist-tested, allergy-tested, gentle, and non-irritating, especially on sensitive skin.
The ingredients in this that specifically target skin tone and texture are Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Salicylic Acid. But it also contains ingredients like squalane, glycerin, and aloe, that soothe and nourish the skin to prevent irritation.

Some people have reported seeing a difference in their skin in as little as 7 days. However, for darker skin, it may take 8-12 weeks of consistent use to see a visible difference. It is, however, being called one of the best options for sensitive skin.
One issue I have with it is that it is very pricey. You can click here to see the price for the Forgotten Skincare Underarm Brightening Deodorant on Amazon.
